If you’re like me and have been bewildered at the bids that certain recent (Master) Artworks are going for at auction, then you understand that the Art game is being played out mainly by a handful of the very rich. The good news is that superior, original, Fine Art paintings can be found right here on the internet created by passionate and dedicated artists, who, like you and I, consider Art as a reflection of the times…the present times actually. YES!
Acadia National Forest in Maine
A Pickleball friend saw this landscape I painted of Foster Fields in Morristown, NJ and then commissioned her own ‘story’.
This is how I like to work…just visiting places and capturing beauty wherever. Working with someone else’s STORY, and using THEIR REFERENCES, well. For me, that’s more exciting and challenging. So, after I listened to my friend’s touching story, the landscape moved to Acadia National Forest in Maine where she and her husband had spent many wonderful trips. She shared several favorite photos from their travels and explained why the painting would be special to her. My initial sketches were in pencil.
After compiling several drawings that pulled the landscape together I started to work on a sepia-toned wash to map out the scene and give it depth.
The final Image made her tear up. I was so happy with the finished work!
Lake Lewiston
NIAGARA FALLS gave me new opportunities to find great shots and create new paintings.
This one was inspired by a Lake Lewiston Sunset.

Autumn in Foster Field
SPF Fifteen
My latest painting SPF fifteen is beach themed. The Jersey Shore always conjures up wonderful memories and stories and I think that at the crux that’s what Art making is about…sharing stories. This piece was inspired by an article in the Star Ledger about five years ago, when so much damage had been done by storms, and the actual ‘beach’ areas were shrinking due to beach erosion.
I think the quiet and peacefulness of the shore, the sun and sand will continue to be enjoyed for decades to come! Of course we all have to do our part and pay attention to Climate Change and its effects on our shorelines and tides!
