I’m proud that my work was chosen for the show along with fourteen other amazing paintings. See the exhibit at the METC Annex 551 Main Street, Madison, NJ. Nov.1, 2021- Feb. 2022.
My latest painting was developed for the METC Museum of Early Trades and Crafts Sidewalk Art Sale. My friend Vivian texted me the link for the fundraiser with the theme of HOPE and immediately I was on board.
Like you and everyone else, I take a lot of pictures, many of them for reference, so once I committed myself to the project I began pouring over my images. The reference was a photo taken on my deck late in the afternoon. I liked the dramatic effect the light had on the subjects, very golden and high-contrast.
My son Kevin is a great model. He has ‘the Look’. He works outdoors and has a strong athletic build. My other muse is striving actress Muguet Deltoro who also has “The Look” that may one day help launch her acting career.
Oil or Acrylics? That was my next decision but since I had time to develop my piece I decided Oil would be best. The light in my studio is limited because of the exposure at the back of the house, so I painted only few hours at a day.
The title of the painting is “Envision Hope”. I think to be young and career-bound today you have to keep Hope in your heart… it’s tough out there!!
Both my models work very hard at their careers in NYC. I admire the youth of today for following their dreams and standing up for themselves.
They were my inspiration for the “HOPE” theme.
